The trading industry is full of noise. Marketing hype. Fake gurus. Prop firms that collapse overnight. Tools that promise the world and deliver nothing.

We exist to cut through the BS.

Doing It Right is built on a simple principle: only feature firms, tools, and services that actually do right by traders. If something isn't here, that tells you everything you need to know.

Our Promise: Can't Be Bought

No firm or tool can pay for coverage on this site. We decide what to review based on merit alone. If something isn't featured here, it's because it didn't meet our standards.

We may use affiliate links for products we genuinely recommend (clearly disclosed), but the decision to recommend comes first—the affiliate relationship comes second, never before.

How We Evaluate

Before anything gets the "Doing It Right" stamp of approval, it goes through our evaluation framework:

For Prop Firms:

  • Ownership Transparency: Who owns the firm? Are they public about it? Red flags if ownership is hidden.
  • Business Model Sustainability: Is the model mathematically sustainable, or is it a ticking time bomb?
  • Payout History: Do they actually pay traders? What's the track record?
  • Rules Clarity: Are the rules clear and fair, or designed to fail traders?
  • Regulatory Compliance: Are they operating legally? Any regulatory issues?
  • Community Reputation: What are funded traders actually saying?

For Trading Tools:

  • Actual Utility: Does it actually help traders, or is it marketing fluff?
  • Accuracy: Does it work as advertised? We test it ourselves.
  • Value for Money: Is the price justified by the value provided?
  • No Hidden Agendas: Is it a tool or a Trojan horse for upsells?

For Brokerages:

  • Regulation: Properly regulated in legitimate jurisdictions?
  • Execution Quality: Do trades execute reliably at quoted prices?
  • Pricing Transparency: Clear about fees, commissions, and costs?
  • Financial Stability: Is the broker financially sound?
  • Customer Service: Do they respond? Do they help? Or do they ghost you?

For Educators/Gurus:

  • Track Record Verification: Can they prove their results? Are they real?
  • Teaching Quality: Do they actually teach, or just sell dreams?
  • Transparency: Honest about risks and realistic about outcomes?
  • No False Promises: Not promising guaranteed returns or "get rich quick" schemes.

What Gets Excluded

We don't cover everything. If a firm or tool doesn't pass our evaluation, we simply don't mention it. This isn't about creating drama or writing hit pieces—it's about curation.

Silence is our review. If you don't see it here, we chose not to recommend it.

Transparency Policy

Affiliate Relationships

We participate in affiliate programs for some of the firms and tools we recommend. Here's our policy:

  • We decide to recommend something FIRST (based on merit)
  • Only then do we check if they have an affiliate program
  • The affiliate relationship NEVER influences our decision
  • We turn down affiliate opportunities with firms we don't trust
  • Many firms we recommend don't even have affiliate programs

No Paid Reviews

If a firm offered us money to review them, we would decline the payment and not cover them at all. Our recommendations cannot be bought.

Disclosure

Any affiliate relationships are clearly disclosed. We believe in complete transparency about how we operate and how we're compensated (when we are).
